Naxxar Lions registered their first win in the BOV Premier League as they came from behind to beat St. Andrews 3-1 at the Centenary Stadium on Friday. A win which enables the Lions to join St. Andrews on the six-point mark.
Jacob Walker put St. Andrews ahead on the 7th minute with a fine shot when served by Aidan Friggieri.
However four minutes from the end of the first half, Naxxar were awarded a penalty after a defender handled the ball inside the area and Scott Fenwick converted from the penalty spot to level matters.
Eight minutes in the second half, Yuri de Jesus Messias put the Lions ahead when he advanced upfield before beating Calleja Cremona with a shot from outside the area.
Duane Bonnici sealed the issue with a third goal on the 90th minute when he advanced into the area before beating the St. Andrews goalkeeper.
