A goal by Jack Vella five minutes in added time enabled Mellieha to return to winning ways as they defeated Msida St. Joseph 1-0 in a match from the BOV Third Division at the Charles Abela Stadium on Sunday.
In another match at the Charles Abela Stadium, a 94th minute goal by Matthew Pace handed Dingli Swallows a narrow win over Mdina Knights.
At the Sirens Stadium, Xghajra Tornados defeated Zurrieq 3-2. Xghajra took a three-goal lead in the first half thanks to goals by Royter Degiorgio on the 3rd and 42nd and an own goal. Zurrieq reduced the gap with goals by Alexander Cauchi on the 57th and Gilbert Camilleri on the hour.
In another match at the Sirens Stadium, Ghaxaq registered their first win as they found no difficulty in beating Ta’ Xbiex 6-0. Martin Busuttil put Ghaxaq ahead on the 23rd and three minutes later, Dean Agius doubled the score. Florin Anton made it 3-0 a minute later. Thirteen minutes in the second half, Busuttil scored the fourth goal with Ian Calleja and Nigel Vella adding another two on the 80th and 82nd.
Kirkop lead the way with 13 points, followed by Sta. Venera and Mellieha 12, Xghajra 10, Zurrieq and Dingli 7, Mdina, Mtarfa and Msida 6, Ghaxaq 4, Ta’ Xbiex 3, Marsaskala 1.
