Balzan hit five past Mosta

With a fourth win in five matches, Balzan extended their unbeaten run to seven matches as they defeated Mosta 5-0 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Monday. A win which puts Marko Micovic’s side once again in third place, four points behind leaders Valletta and two behind Gzira.

Mosta, on the other hand, suffered a heavy defeat after two good performances from which they had earned four points.

Balzan took the lead on the 14th minute when off a cross by Alfred Effiong, Bojan Kaljevic rose high to head home past goalkeeper Andreas Vella.

On the 66th, Balzan doubled the score when off a Ryan Fenech corner, an Elkin Serrano Valero header gave the Mosta goalkeeper no chance.

Seven minutes later, Bojan Kaljevic sent Alfred Effiong through and the latter hit home past Vella.

Balzan kept pushing for more and off a Ryan Fenech corner on the 79th, Effiong headed the ball in the direction of Elkin Serrano Valero who tapped the ball home.

Three minutes from time, Alfred Effiong made it 5-0 for Balzan with a header off a Ryan Fenech corner.

A minute later, Mosta were reduced to ten men after Davide Mansi received a second yellow card.
