Floriana maintained their unbeaten record in the BOV Premier League table thanks to a narrow win over Old Firm rivals Sliema Wanderers at the National Stadium on Sunday. A win which puts the Greens on the 23-point mark, one behind Gzira and Balzan and two ahead of Hibernians.
For the Wanderers, this was the first defeat after four consecutive wins. A defeat which leaves John Buttigieg’s side in sixth place.
Moldovan international striker Nicolae Milinceanu, who joined the Wanderers from FC Chiasso last week, was included as a substitute.
The Greens scored the all-important goal on the 20th minute thanks to an own goal by Goran Adamovic, following a Juninho Cabral effort, which beat goalkeeper Glenn Zammit.
