Swieqi United failed to take advantage from Santa Lucia’s draw with Attard on Saturday as they were held in a goalless draw by Mgarr United at the Sirens Stadium in one of the four matches in programme on Sunday. A draw which puts Swieqi one point ahead of Santa Lucia and Siggiewi and two ahead of Gudja and Kalkara.
Siggiewi and Kalkara shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw at the Luxol Stadium. Ian Montanaro put Siggiewi ahead on the 7th minute but Leeroy Bonett equalised on the 45th and Simon Aquilina put Kalkara ahead on the 63rd. However Shamison Farrugia restored equilibrium two minutes later.
In another match at the Sirens Stadium, Marsaxlokk rescued a point in the clash with Fgura United thanks to a late goal. Thomas Grech put Fgura ahead two minutes in the second half and Pablo Doffo equalised one minute from time.
At the Luxol Stadium, Birzebbuga St. Peter’s beat Gharghur 2-1. John Micallef gave Birzebbuga the lead on the 37th and although Eduardo de Lima Nicolau levelled matters thanks to a penalty seven minutes in the second half, Keith Muscat notched the winner on the 63rd.
Swieqi lead the way with 25 points, followed by Santa Lucia and Siggiewi on 24, Gudja and Kalkara 23, Birzebbuga 20, Marsaxlokk 19, Fgura and Mgarr 18, Luqa 14, Attard 10, St. George’s 5 and Gharghur 2.
