Senglea return to winning ways

Senglea Athletic scored a goal in each half to claim the three points in a clash with bottom-placed Lija Athletic. Three points which enable them to join Mosta in ninth place on 18 points, leaving Lija at the bottom of the table with just five.

This was the third win in four matches for Paolo Favaretto’s side while for Lija, this was the fifth consecutive defeat.

Senglea managed to take the lead on the 35th minute thanks to a direct freekick by Gonzalo Nicolas Virano which gave goalkeeper Jonathan Martinelli no chance.

Five minutes in the second half, Lija were reduced to ten men after they had Patrick Borg sent off as he received two yellow cards

Three minutes from time, Senglea sealed the issue with a second goal when following a freekick, Augusto Rene Caseres hit home from close range.
