Women’s Under-16 national team hits six past Liechtenstein

After defeating Andorra 2-0 and Gibraltar 14-0 in the first two matches, the Malta women’s Under-16 side defeated Liechtenstein 6-0 in the final match from the UEFA Youth Under-16 Development Mini-Tournament at the Centenary Stadium on Friday.

Dorianne Theuma’s side therefore claimed maximum points from the three matches while maintaining a clean sheet.

Malta took the lead on the 19th minute thanks to Veronique Mifsud and seven minutes later, Maia Debono doubled the score with Rachela Pace making it 3-0 on the 28th minute. Hayley Bugeja scored a fourth goal on the 34th minute but just before half-time, an own goal and a goal by Laura Chetcuti Dimech increased the lead further.

In the second half, Malta could have added another but Jessica Dimech missed a penalty in stoppage time.

In the other match, Andorra beat Gibraltar 1-0.
