BOV Division 1: Second consecutive defeat for Pietà

Pietà Hotspurs received another setback in the race for promotion as they suffered a second consecutive defeat, losing 2-4 to Pembroke Athleta in one of the two matches at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Saturday.

Pembroke went four goals ahead as Caio Henrique Alves de Souza put them ahead on the 11th, Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza doubled the score on the 28th, Njongo Priso converted a penalty on the 49th minute and Yanis Tonna adding another on the hour. Pietà reduced the gap with a Dylon Agius penalty on the 70th and an own goal six minutes from time.

In another match, Marsa earned a precious point in a 2-2 draw with Qrendi. Paul Lapira put Marsa ahed on the 32nd minute but Qrendi turned the score in their favour with goals by Shunsuke Nakamura on the 43rd and Dhontan Santos da Hora on the 63rd. However Paul Lapira restored equilibrium five minutes later.

Qormi lead the way with 35 points, followed by Mqabba on 32, Pieta 30, Zebbug 27, Vittoriosa 25, Zejtun 23, Sirens and Qrendi 20, San Gwann 18, Pembroke 16, Zabbar 13, Melita and Marsa 12 and Rabat 4.
