BOV Division 2: Santa Lucia back in second place

Santa Lucia moved back in joint-second place in the BOV Second Division as they defeated bottom-placed Gharghur 5-1 at the Luxol Stadium on Saturday. Paolo Dandolo put Santa Lucia ahead early in the game and although Cain Saliba equalised on the 40th, Sebastian Perdomo equalised a minute later. Santa Lucia increased the lead thanks to another goal by Perdomo on the 65th, a Steve Meilak penalty on the 80th and Emanuel Cutajar on the 90th.

Birzebbuga St. Peter’s beat Marsaxlokk by the odd goal in five at the Luxol Stadium. Sam Kind scored twice on the 21st and 36th to put the Saints two goals ahead. Ryan Cauchi reduced the gap nine minutes in the second half and Pablo Doffo equalised on the 63rd but Didier Sohna restored the lead for Birzebbuga two minutes from time.

At the Sirens Stadium, Siggiewi defeated Luqa St. Andrew’s 2-1. Ayrton Micallef put Siggiewi ahead on the 75th and although Greg Marney equalised on the 83rd, Edward Bugeja notched the winner for Siggiewi on the 90th.

A penalty by Daniel Cremona on the 55th, another goal by Cremona on the 63rd and Jamie Lee Micallef six minutes later gave Mgarr United a 3-0 win over Attard at the Sirens Stadium.

Swieqi lead the way with 43 points, followed by Gudja and Santa Lucia on 42, Fgura 40, Siggiewi 37, Marsaxlokk 36, Mgarr 34, Birzebbuga 32, Kalkara 33, Luqa 22, Attard 13, St. George’s 12 and Gharghur 4.
