Fgura United joined Birzebbuga St. Peter’s on top the BOV Second Division as they were held in a goalless draw by Mellieha in one of two matches at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.
In another match, Mgarr United registered a comfortable 5-1 win over Sta. Venera Lightnings. Kenneth Aquilina opened the score for Mgarr on the 2nd minute, adding another on the half-hour. Five minutes from the end of the first half, Lyden Micallef made it 3-0. Lazar Doric converted a penalty on the 59th and scored another three minutes later with Shamison Farrugia scoring a consolation goal for the Lightnings five minutes from time.
Birzebbuga and Fgura lead the way with 7 points, followed by Fgura and Marsaxlokk on 6, Mgarr, Melita and Mellieha 4, Zabbar, Rabat and Luqa 3, Kalkara, St. George’s and Siggiewi 1 and Sta. Venera 0.
