Marsaxlokk joined Rabat Ajax and Mgarr United on top the BOV Second Division as they defeated Melita 2-0 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Sunday.
Rhys Mifsud put Marsaxlokk ahead on the 5th minute and Timmy Thomas doubled the score six minutes from time.
On the other hand, an unfortunate own goal after just five minutes handed Fgura United a narrow win over Sta. Venera Lightnings. A win which puts Kevin Vella’s side in fourth place, one point behind the leaders.
Therefore at the end of the first round, Rabat, Marsaxlokk and Mgarr lead the way with 26 points, followed by Fgura on 25, Birzebbuga 24, St. George’s 22, Melita 20, Zabbar 10, Sta. Venera 9, Mellieha and Luqa 8, Siggiewi and Kalkara 7.
