Valletta FC announced that they have secured the services of Italian defensive midfielder Antonio Monticelli. The twenty-nine year old signed an eighteen-month deal with the Citizens.
Monticelli, who hails from Napoli, started his career at Arzanese Calcio and later played for AC Isola Liri, US Venafro, FC Neapolis, Campofranco, ASD Verbano, US Bojano, Nerostellati Frattese, Forza e Coraggio Benevento and Budoni Calcio before joining Floriana in summer 2015. He spent two years with the Greens before moving back to Budoni. Following a short spell with the club, he joined US Palmese but returned to Malta last summer to join Hamrun Spartans.
Earlier on Thursday, Hamrun Spartans announced that they had reached a mutual agreement with Monticelli to terminate his contract as he was no longer part of the club’s project and that the player had been released for an undisclosed fee.
