Precious points at stake in clashes from lower part of the table

Precious points will be at stake at the Hibernians Stadium on Saturday as Mosta take on Senglea Athletic and Tarxien Rainbows face St. Andrews.

In the first match, kick-off at 14:00, Mosta seek a fourth consecutive positive result from the clash with Senglea Athletic.

The Blues are currently fourth from bottom on 12 points, following a draw with Gżira, a win over Qormi and a draw with St. Andrews in their last three outings. Senglea, on the other hand, target a second consecutive win after beating Qormi 4-0 last week to abandon the bottom place for the first time this season. They are now second from bottom on seven points.

In the first round, Mosta registered a 2-0 win.

Meanwhile in the second match, kick-off at 16:00, Tarxien Rainbows and St. Andrews will both be all out to claim maximum points. One point separates the two teams with the Saints sharing the eighth place with Floriana with the Rainbows lying one point behind.

The only win for St. Andrews in the last five matches arrived thanks to a decision by the MFA Protests Board over the game against Floriana. They lost two and drew the other two matches, including last week’s draw with Mosta. Tarxien, on the other hand, lost three out of the last five matches, holding Gżira in a 1-1 draw last week.

The Rainbows could have Thomas Veronese, Juan Cruz Gill and Siraj Arab Eddin making their debut. Daren Falzon is suspended. St. Andrews, on the other hand, could not count on the suspended Kevaughn Atkinson.

Tarxien defeated St. Andrews 5-1 in the first round.
