A penalty by Macedonian midfielder Demir Imeri handed Mosta three precious points as they defeated Hamrun Spartans 1-0 at the Hibernians Stadium on Saturday.
Thanks to these three points, Mosta join Tarxien in eighth place on the 19-point mark, one ahead of Floriana and St. Andrews and two ahead of Senglea.
This defeat brings Hamrun’s impressive run of ten positive results on the trot, leaving them in fourth place, one point behind third-placed Gzira and two ahead of Sliema.
Mosta scored the all-important goal sixteen minutes from time when they were awarded a penalty after Juri Cisotti was brought down inside the area by goalkeeper Sean Cini and debutante Demir Imeri made no mistake from the penalty spot.
A few seconds later, the Blues were reduced to ten men after Gianluca Cuomo received a second yellow card for making gestures to the Hamrun supporters.
