St. George’s returned to winning ways as they defeated Rabat Ajax 3-1 at the Centenary Stadium on Friday. The Saints therefore move second, two points behind leaders Fgura and two ahead of Marsaxlokk.
Dylan Caruana put St. George’s ahead on the 2nd minute and Anthony Ewurum doubled the score on the 11th. Leon Camilleri made it 3-0 on the 70th with Immy Micallef converting a penalty for Rabat six minutes later to reduce the gap.
In another match, Kalkara claimed three important points in a 2-1 win over Mellieha. Lincoln Micallef put Kalkara ahead on the 13th and although Kyle Simiana equalised on the 20th, Aaron Agius made it 2-1 eleven minutes in the second half.
Fgura lead the way with 43 points, followed by St. George’s on 41, Marsaxlokk on 39, Mgarr 38, Birzebbuga 37, Rabat and Melita 28, Kalkara 19, Zabbar and Mellieha 16, Sta. Venera 13, Siggiewi and Luqa 12.
