Luis Enrique, Lars Olsen name Spain, Faroe Islands squads

Spain coach Luis Enrique and Faroe Islands coach Lars Olsen named the squads for their first two matches from the European Qualifiers. The Faroe Islands will be facing Malta on Saturday 23, kick-off at 18:00, and Spain on Tuesday 26, kick-off at 20:45.

Luis Enrique named a number of new faces ahead of the matches against Norway and Malta.

Real Madrid midfielder Isco and Atletico Madrid duo Koke and Saul were missing from the 23-man squad but Sevilla’s Jesus Navas is back.

The new faces include Sevilla defender Sergi Gomez, Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz, Real Betis midfielder Sergio Canales and Getafe striker Jaime Mata.

Spain open their Euro 2020 qualification campaign at home to Norway in Valencia on March 23, then visiting Malta on March 26.

On Monday, Faroe Islands coach Lars Olsen named the squad for the two clashes with Malta and Romania away from home.

The only new face selected by Olsen is Under-21 international goalkeeper Karstin Hansen of Skála ÍF.
