Kalkara came back from three goals down to hold Marsaxlokk in a 3-3 draw at the Victor Tedesco Stadium in a match from the BOV Second Division on Friday. The Southseasiders therefore lose further ground in the battle for promotion after suffering back-to-back defeats.
Ronnie Celeste put Marsaxlokk ahead on the 2nd minute and Ryan Cauchi doubled the score on the 25th. Three minutes from the end of the first half, Damon Grima made it 3-0. However, Gaynor D’Amato reduced the gap on the 58th, Conrad Tabone scored a second goal for Kalkara on the 65th and Emmanuel Mbong equalised one minute from time.
In another match, Mgarr United defeated Zabbar St. Patrick 2-1 to move second. Aaron Sammut opened the score for Mgarr on the 43rd and although two minutes in the second half, Kumpei Tanaka equalised, Mark Abela restored the lead on the 72nd.
Fgura lead the way with 44 points, followed by Mgarr on 42, St. George’s on 41, Marsaxlokk 40, Birzebbuga 37, Melita 29, Rabat 28, Kalkara 20, Zabbar 19, Mellieha and Sta. Venera 16, Luqa 13 and Siggiewi 12.
