Second win for Luxol in Futsal Play-Offs

Luxol moved another step closer to the Championship as they registered a second win in the best out of five Elite Play Offs Final, defeating Valletta 5-2.

Mid-way through the first half, Brazilian Leanderson Sant’ Anna Coriolano scored the opening goal for Luxol and then, an own goal by Andre Ciancio put them two goals ahead before the end of the first half.

In the opening minutes of the second half, Luxol added the third goal through Marwan Telisi. Six minutes later, it was time for captain Mark Zammit to put his name on the score sheet as he made it 4-0. Play was interrupted by the invasion of the pitch by a Valletta supporter but the situation was calmed down and the match resumed. Luxol continued to impress and added the fifth goal through Nicola Del Re.

Trailing by five goals, Valletta coach Xavier Saliba pushed everything forward by introducing Dylan Musu as the flying keeper. This risky move proved right as Valletta reduced the gap through Shawn Vella and Andre Ciancio.

The third final is scheduled for Friday at 20:15 at the Corradino Sport Pavilion. Should Luxol win, they would be crowned Elite Champions.
