Mgarr United moved on top the BOV Second Division table thanks to a 5-0 win over bottom-placed Siggiewi at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Saturday. A win which puts them one point ahead of Fgura and four ahead of St. George’s before the latter two face each other in Sunday’s big match at the Luxol Stadium. However, Fgura and St. George’s would still have a game in hand.
Aaron Sammut opened the score on the 22nd and Lazar Doric scored on the 25th and Matthew Agius on the 29th to extend the lead to three goals within the first half hour. Eight minutes in the second half, Lazar Doric scored Mgarr’s fourth and Matthew Agius made it 5-0 on the 62nd minute.
In another match, Melita defeated Rabat Ajax 3-0 thanks to goals by Michael Cachia on the 8th minute, Liam Reno Gatt on the 27th and Alan Borg Olivier on the 90th
Mgarr lead the way with 48 points, followed by Fgura on 47, St. George’s 44, Marsaxlokk and Birzebbuga 40, Melita 36, Rabat 31, Kalkara 23, Mellieha 22, Zabbar and Luqa 19, Sta. Venera 16 and Siggiewi 13.
