After losing 2-3 to Hibernians in their last outing, Birkirkara will be hoping to bounce back on Saturday as they take on Mosta at the National Stadium, kick-off at 18:00.
The Stripes lost two out of their last three matches and now share sixth place with Balzan. However they lie just two points behind the two teams in fourth place – Hamrun Spartans and Sliema Wanderers. Therefore with a win over Mosta, they would move temporarily fourth. On Saturday, they could not count on the suspended Kurt Zammit and Terence Agius.
Mosta, however, chase precious points in their bid to secure their Premier League status. They are currently ninth on 24 points, six ahead of St. Andrews and eleven ahead of bottom-duo Pietà Hotspurs and Qormi.
In the first round, Birkirkara defeated Mosta 3-0.
Meanwhile the first match, kick-off at 16:00, is a direct clash between two teams from the lower part of the table as Tarxien Rainbows face Pietà Hotspurs.
Ten points separate the two teams as the Rainbows are currently tenth on 23 points while the Hotspurs share the bottom spot with Qormi on 13.
Tarxien lost six out of the last eight matches and a win would enable them to move further away from the Play-Off. The Hotspurs, on the other hand, bounced back from a most disappointing run of twelve defeats with a 3-1 win over St. Andrews last week.
Jan Busuttil is ruled out for Pietà while Tarxien coach Jose Borg will be unable to lead the team from the bench as both are suspended.
In the first round, Tarxien registered a 3-0 win.
