St. Andrews will be facing the team finishing third in the BOV First Division in the BOV Premier League Play-Off on May 5 despite a narrow win over Gzira United at the Hibernians Stadium on Friday.
In fact, victory on Friday was not enough to avoid the third place from bottom after Senglea Athletic defeated Birkirkara 3-2.
St. Andrews scored the all-important goal on the 7th minute when off a cross by Aidan Friggieri from the right, a Martin Davis effort was blocked by the Gżira rear-guard and Matthew Woo Ling slotted the ball past Anthony Curmi.
Gzira could have equalised eleven minutes in the second half when they were awarded a penalty after Sofian Domoraud was fouled inside the area but Andrew Cohen’s penalty was neutralised by Matthew Calleja Cremona.
