Hamrun Spartans registered their second win on the trot as they scored two in the first half and another two in the second to beat Sirens 4-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.
The Spartans therefore move temporarily on top the BOV Premier League table with eight points, one ahead of Sirens, who suffer their first defeat after a draw in the opening game and two wins in their last two matches.
Soufiane Lagzir put Hamrun ahead on the 29th minute when he managed to steal the ball off Adrian Borg and advanced before hitting low past Cassar.
Just before half-time, Hamrun doubled the score when Lagzir served Wilfried Domoraud who rounded Cassar before placing the ball at the back of the net.
Sirens were unlucky not to reduce the gap on the 58th when Manuel Angel Bustos’ effort hit the woodwork.
The Spartans extended the lead on the 66th minute thanks to Nicola Leone who received an assist by Lagzir and hit low past the Sirens goalkeeper.
Six minutes from time, Soufiane Lagzir scored his second and Hamrun’s fourth with a fine shot from the edge of the area.
