Marsa moved three points clear in the BOV Second Division thanks to a narrow 1-0 win over Zurrieq in one of the two matches in programme at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Monday.
Erik Pietribiasi scored the all-important goal on the 64th minute.
Meanwhile Luqa St. Andrew’s registered their first win as they beat Kalkara 2-1. Gilbert Camilleri put Luqa ahead on the 53rd minute and although Larson Mallia equalised on the 81st minute, Luqa notched the winner thanks to Lydon Micallef in added time.
Marsa lead the way with 14 points, followed by Melita on 11, Mgarr and Marsaxlokk 10, Rabat 8, San Gwann and Zurrieq 7, Mellieha and Kalkara 6, Birzebbuga and Xghajra 5, Luqa 4 and Zabbar 3.
