Late goals hands Senglea a point in a draw with Balzan

Senglea Athletic came back from two goals down to rescue a point in a 2-2 draw with Balzan at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday. A draw which enables Senglea to stay one point ahead of Balzan.

Balzan have ony themselves to blame for not winning the game after holding the initiative for long stretches and taking a two-goal lead. However Senglea never gave up and after reducing the gap, they notched the equaliser on the 90th minute.

Balzan took the lead on the 13th minute when they were awarded a penalty after Ricardo Correa was brought down inside the area by Sigitas Olberkis and from the penalty spot, Andrija Majdevac made no mistake.

On the 63rd minute, Andrija Majdevac doubled the score as he concluded a solo effort with a fine rising shot which gave goalkeeper Matthew Farrugia no chance.

Senglea were unlucky to hit the crossbar with a header by Jose Wilkson Teixeira on the 73rd minute but four minutes later, Senglea reduced the gap with a penalty by Manolito Micallef after Wilfried Zamble was fouled by goalkeeper Sean Mintoff inside the area.

On the 90th minute, Senglea levelled matters when off a cross by Jan Tanti from the right, Jose Wilskon Teixeira headed home from close range.
