Romarinho brace paves the way for Sirens win

Brazilian Romario Lucas Memezes scored twice as Sirens kept the pace with the top two teams with a 3-0 win over wooden-spoonists Tarxien Rainbows at the National Stadium on Sunday.

This was the fifth win in eight matches for Steve D’Amato’s side as they stay one point behind Gzira United and four behind leaders Floriana. Tarxien, on the other hand, suffered the twelfth defeat in as many matches.

Sirens took the lead on the 14th minute when off a cross by Romeu Pericles Romao, Romario Lucas Memezes slotted the ball past goalkeeper Rudy Briffa.

On the 58th minute, the St. Paul’s Bay side doubled the score when they were awarded a penalty after Wellington Petinha was brought down inisde the area by Brandon Muscat and from the penalty spot, Romario Lucas Memezes made no mistake.

Sirens scored the third goal on the 63rd minute when a shot from the left by Wellington de Oliveira was partially saved by Rudy Briffa and Emmanuel Okoye hit home.
