Loza Abera scores twice as Birkirkara defeat Mgarr 3-1

Leaders Birkirkara moved six points clear in the BOV Women’s League after defeating rivals Mgarr United 3-1 at the Dingli Ground on Tuesday.

Following a goalless first half, Ann-Marie Said put the Stripes ahead on the 53rd minute and a brace by Loza Abera on the 71st and 77th sealed the issue for Birkirkara. Haley Bugeja scored a consolation goal for Mgarr in stoppage time.

Swieqi United joined Mgarr United in second place thanks to a 5-0 win over Kirkop United at the Mgarr Ground.

Swieqi took the lead through Jade Flask on the 7th minute and Demi Magrin doubled the score on the 15th. Flask scored again on the 33rd and Magrin added another seven minutes later. Kayleigh Chetcuti scored a fifth goal on the 70th minute.

Raiders GFC, on the other hand, returned to winning ways thanks to a 6-1 win over Mosta at the Charles Abela Stadium.

Rodianne Zerafa handed Raiders the lead after just six minutes and Rosalie Borg Cauchi doubled the score on the 26th. Rebecca Naudi increased the lead five minutes in the second half and Rodianne Zerafa made it 4-0 on the hour. Julia Egging pulled one back for Mosta on the 70th minute but Raiders increased the lead through Michela Bonello Ghio on the 88th and Rebecca Naudi on the 90th.

Meanwhile in the Women’s Under-19 League, Swieqi United and Mgarr United keep marching on with comfortable wins with the former staying one point clear.

Swieqi United defeated Hibernians 16-0 while Mgarr United beat Kirkop United 5-1. Birkirkara registered an 8-0 victory over Mtarfa while Raiders GFC defeated Mosta 8-0.

The Women’s Under-15 Knock-Out kicked-off with a 2-1 win for Swieqi United over Birkirkara in the Preliminary Round. Swieqi take on Senglea Athletic in the quarter-finals in programme this weekend.
