Floriana return to winning ways

Leaders Floriana bounced back from the defeat to Birkirkara last week as they came from behind to beat Balzan 3-1 at the National Stadium on Saturday.

An early goal had put Balzan ahead but after equalising during the first half, Floriana scored twice late in the game to register their tenth win in this BOV Premier League to move temporarily four points clear.

Balzan took the lead on the 7th minute when off a cross from the right by Uros Ljubomirac, Andrija Majdevac headed the ball towards goal with Floriana defender Jurgen Pisani heading the ball into his own net.

Floriana levelled matters on the 38th minute when Kristian Keqi sent Tiago Adan Fonseca through on the left and the latter hit low from underneath Kristian Naumovski with the ball ending at the back of the net.

The Greens forged ahead on the 77th minute when off a swift counter attack, Kristian Keqi released substitute Augusto Rene Caseres on the left and the latter slotted the ball past Naumovski.

Three minutes in added time, Floriana sealed the issue with a third goal win off another counter-attack, Kristian Keqi received the ball after a good move with Diego Venancio and Augusto Rene Caseres and hit low past the Balzan goalkeeper from inside the area.
