Hibernians cruise past Pembroke

Hibernians found no difficulty in beating First Division side Pembroke Athleta 4-0 in a match from the fourth round of the FA Trophy at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.

The Paolites, who had defeated another First Division side – Zejtun Corinthians – in the third round, therefore secure a place in the quarter-finals along with Birkirkara, Balzan and Pieta’ Hotspurs.

Dunstan Vella put the Paolites ahead on the 19th minute When he beat goalkeeper Philip Schranz with a shot from outside the area when served by Joseph Mbong.

Hibernians doubled the score on the half-hour when Andrei Agius released Joseph Mbong and off the latter’s assist, Imanol Iriberri deposited the ball inside the empty net.

Ferdinando Apap increased the lead on the 86th minute, heading the ball home off a Myles Beerman corner.

Two minutes from time, Myles Beerman sealed the issue with another goal as he converted a penalty after Charles Atsina was brought down inside the area by Glen Azzopardi.
