Brazilian attacking midfielder Gilmar da Silva Ribeiro will be playing once again in Malta after agreeing a deal with Sliema Wanderers.
After playing for Macae, Audax, Estacio de Sa and Bangu in Brazil, Gilmar moved to Malta to join Naxxar Lions in 2013. He had a spell on loan with Hibernians in season 2015/16 and then with Al Raed in Saudi Arabia. He moved back to Malta in January 2017, re-joining the Paolites on loan. In summer 2017, he moved to Khaleej in Saudi Arabia and the following summer, he was transfered to Hatta Club of the United Arab Emirates. In summer 2009, he joined Al Hamriyah, also in the UAE.
Sliema also managed to sign Spanish attacking midfielder Carlos Calvo. Throughout his career, the 34-year old played for Atletico Madrid at youth level and was then on the books of Elche Ilicitano, Valladolid B, Villajoyosa, CD Alcoyano, Xerex CD, Udinese in Italy, Granada CF, Herules CF, UD Almeria, Skoda Xanthi in Greece, SD Huesca, Cadiz CF, CF Badalona and Recreativo Huelva before oving to India in summer 2018 to join Jamshedpur FC.
The Wanderers had earlier signed Arthur Henrique Oyama, Federico Vasilchik and Soichiro Tanaka.
