BOV Division 1: Mqabba earn a point after coming back from two goals down

Mqabba came back from two goals down to hold Pieta’ Hotspurs in a 2-2 draw in one of the two BOV First Division matches in programme at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Saturday.

The Hotspurs went two goals ahead within the first ten minutes through James Scicluna on the 7th and a Kilian Amehi penalty on the 10th but a brace by Alexsandro Ferreira dos Santos on the 82nd and 92nd gave Mqabba a precious point.

In another match, Qormi were also held in a 2-2 draw by St. George’s.

Leeroy Bonett opened the score for the Saints on the 14th minute. Gilmour Sammut equalised on the 29th but Aaron Hili made it 2-1 for St. George’s on the 37th. Five minutes from time, Bradley Schembri converted a penalty to level matters for Qormi.

Zejtun lead the way with 28 points, followed by Lija and St. Andrews on 25, Qrendi 23, Naxxar and Pembroke 22, Pieta’ 19, Qormi 16, Swieqi and Zebbug 15, Mqabba and St. George’s 14, Fgura and Vittoriosa 12.
