BOV Women’s League: Fine win for Mgarr United over Swieqi United

Mgarr United defeated Swieqi United 6-1 to join them in second place in the BOV Women’s League at the Dingli Ground on Tuesday.

The Greens forged ahead through a Brenda Borg effort on the 18th minute before Swieqi levelled terms following an Emma Xuereb’s low-drive on the 26th. Nonetheless, Mġarr scored again through Brenda Borg on the 38th as they restored their one-goal lead. The Greens made sure of the win before half-time when Haley Bugeja added two more goals on the 43rd and 45th. After the break, Bugeja added another on the 55th and an own goal made it 6-1 for Mgarr two minutes from time.

Kirkop United registered a valuable victory after coming from behind to defeat Mosta 3-2 at the Charles Abela Stadium to cement their fourth spot on the 12-point mark.

Sarah Urpani had put the Reds ahead on the 19th minute but Mosta equalised through Simona Krstanoska on the 26th. Sarah Urpani made it 2-1 for Kirkop six minutes in the second half and Liis Pello increased the lead on the 74th. Dijana Hristovska reduced the gap for Mosta five minutes from time.

At the Mgarr Ground, Raiders Gharghur FC found no difficulty in beating Hibernians 9-0.

Raiders scored four within the first eleven minutes thanks to Rodianne Zerafa on the 3rd, 4th and 11th and Maya Lucia on the 7th. Maya Lucia scored again on the 16th and Anna Aloisio added another on the half-hour.

During the second half, Raiders scored another three goals thanks to Rodianne Zerafa on the 61st, Andy Zammit Mizzi on the 74th and Michela Bonello Ghio on the 86th.

Meanwhile in the Women’s Under-19 League, Mgarr United maintained their two-point lead over Swieqi United as both registered wins. Mgarr defeated Raiders GFC 7-4 while Swieqi beat Mosta 5-0. Birkirkara registered a 5-0 win over Kirkop United while Hibernians narrowly beat Mtarfa 1-0.

In the Women’s Under-15 League, Swieqi United maintained their perfect record with a 4-1 win over Kirkop United. Zebbug Rangers moved second thanks to an 8-2 win over Mosta. Raiders GFC defeated Mtarfa 7-0 while Mgarr United returned to winning ways as they beat Senglea Athletic 8-0.
