Malta is still ranked 184th as the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking for February was published on Thursday.
No matches were played yet since the EURO 2020 qualifiers November but Malta is now scheduled to play two friendly matches next month against Gibraltar on March 26 and against Azerbaijan on March 30. Both matches will be played at Ta’ Qali. Malta will then play two friendly match in Austria in May – one of which against Slovenia before another friendly match in June against Portugal in Lisbon.
Malta remains third from bottom in Europe, ahead of Gibraltar (196) and San Marino (209). Lying just ahead of Malta are Moldova (175) and Liechtenstein (180).
Meanwhile with few matches having been played on the international front so far this year, there is little movement in the first FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking of 2020.
Indeed, with just 15 friendlies taking place since the last Ranking update in December – including two games in late 2019 – the top 20 remain unchanged, with Belgium, France and Brazil still making up the top three.
Some minor movement in the top 50 sees Wales (23rd, down 1) and Paraguay (41st, down 1) each fall down a spot, while Ghana (46th, up 1) rise ever so slightly.
