Weverton Gomes scored twice as Mosta returned to winning ways, defeating Hamrun Spartans 2-1 at the National Stadium on Saturday.

A win which puts Mosta on level points with Hamrun and Balzan on the 25-point mark.

Five minutes from the end of the first half, an Alessio Capitelli header, off a cross by Ailton Soares from the left, was cleared off the goal line by Christian Chaney; Nicola Leone took the rebound and hit low with the ball hitting the foot of the upright, Chaney’s short clearance reached Valdo Alhino whose acrobatic effort was blocked by a defender.
