Seven Maltese aspiring footballers from different clubs from Malta and Gozo have today started an International experience at Stoke City FC Academy, were they shall be training and playing football matches/tournaments under the guidance of top Stoke City FC youth coaches and under the eyes of numerous scouts from top English football clubs. These young players will be also having the opportunity to train and play alongside their peers who play in Football Clubs from the Stoke on Trent area.
This opportunity was made possible through the ongoing collaboration between IFA Malta and Stoke City FC as these players were chosen during the yearly summer camp organized by International Football Academy Malta which takes place in July. This Summer Camp will be once again part of the calendar of activities for the year 2020.
The young players who have been chosen by the Stoke City FC coaches for this opportunity are Kurt Xuereb from Nadur Youngsters FC and Geordie Debono from Xaghra Utd, both players are regulares for the Gozo representation playing in the Malta YFA leagues. Luca Accarino from Floriana FC Youth Nursery, Ivin Farrugia from Pieta’ Hotspurs FC Youth Academy and Ansell Attard, Sven Xerri and Trezeguet Zammit, all hailing from Hamrun Spartans FC Youth Academy.
The group left Malta this morning and will start an intensive programme of training and matches at the state-of-the-art Academy of Stoke City FC. They shall also be assisting to a Championship match, visiting the Bet 365 Stadium and a comprehensive look into the life of an academy life in the UK, making it a total football experience.
The duration of this experience shall be from the 4th till the 8th March 2020.
