Champions Birkirkara defeated Swieqi United 2-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Wednesday as the BOV Women’s League kicked-off this week.
Stephania Farrugia put the Stripes two minutes in the second half and Tracy Teuma doubled the score on the 70th.

On Tuesday, Mgarr United defeated Mosta 8-1 at the Centenary Stadium.
Francesca Chircop and Brenda Borg gave Mgarr a two-goal lead within the first six minutes. An own goal on the 8th minute put them three goals ahead and four minutes later, Amber Grech made it 4-0. Francesca Chircop scored a fifth goal on the 22nd, Amber Grech a sixth on the 26th and Brenda Borg added another two goals on the 34th and 42nd before the end of the first half. Kylie Pantallaresco pulled one back on the 78th minute.

In another match on Tuesday, Kirkop United beat Mtarfa 6-1.
Rodianne Zerafa scored twice on the 24th and 28th and Sarah Urpani increased the lead on the 41st. Lorna-Maria Cassar pulled one back on the 72nd but another two goals by Rodianne Zerafa on the 86th and 88th and another goal by Sarah Urpani in added time handed Kirkop a comfortable win.

Meanwhile Birkirkara and Swieqi United have maximum points from two matches from the Women’s Under-19 League while Raiders Gharghur won the only match played so far.
Birkirkara defeated Mgarr United 9-0 and Mosta 6-0 while Swieqi beat Mtarfa 11-0 and Kirkop United 4-0. Raiders registered a 7-1 win over Mosta.
After losing to Birkirkara in their first outing, Mgarr bounced back with a 5-2 win over Mtarfa.
