Venancio, Pisani on target as Floriana defeat Gudja 2-1

Floriana scored twice in the first half as they defeated Gudja United 2-1 at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.

A win which puts the Greens on level points with Hamrun Spartans, one point behind Hibernians and Gzira United but the Spartans have a game in hand.

Nicola Leone was unlucky to hit the crossbar with a header after just seven minutes but Floriana managed to take the lead on the 20th minute thanks to a direct freekick by Diego Venancio which was deflected by Neil Micallef past goalkeeper Glenn Zammit.

The Greens doubled the score seven minutes from the end of the first half when off a Diego Venancio corner from the left, Jurgen Pisani’s header, deflected by Imanol Gonzalez, beat the Gudja goalkeeper.

Gudja reduced the gap two minutes in added time when Aidan Friggieri headed the ball home in style past goalkeeper Ini Etim Akpan off a cross by Imanol Gonzalez from the left.
