Women’s national team ends commitments in style with a second consecutive win away from home

The Malta women’s national team ended its commitments in Group B of the UEFA Women’s EURO qualifying round with a 2-0 win over Israel at the Ramat Gan National Stadium in Ramat Gan, Israel on Tuesday.

This second win away from home, following the 4-0 win over Georgia last week, enables Malta to end its commitments in fourth place on a record ten points.

In Israel, the Maltese produced a dominant performance to secure a deserved victory. A goal in each half by Brenda Borg and Haley Bugeja helped the Maltese conclude their qualification with 11 goals scored, one more than Israel. In addition, they also kept their second clean sheet in Group B.

Haley Bugeja provided the assist to Brenda Borg who slotted the ball home on the 15th minute to put Malta ahead on the 59th minute, the Sassuolo striker doubled the score after receiving an assist by Brenda Borg.

Seven minutes in the second, Kuznezov was sent off for Israel after receiving a second yellow card for a foul on Bugeja.
