Leaders Pembroke Athleta and second-placed Swieqi United registered important wins in the BOV Challenge League on Wednesday.
At the Luxol Stadium, Pembroke defeated neighbours St. Andrews 2-1. An own goal put the Saints ahead on the 24th minute but Kenneth Aquilina equalised five minutes later and John Enoto Etim made it 2-1 on the 61st minute.
A goal on the 4th minute by Frank Temile handed Swieqi United a narrow win over Marsaxlokk at the Victor Tedesco.
In another match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Vittoriosa Stars defeated St. George’s 1-0 in the derby with Luis Andre de Melo Lima scoring the all-important goal two minutes from time.
