FA Trophy: Sirens last team to secure quarter-final spot

Sirens were the last team to reach the quarter-finals of the Malta FA Trophy after defeating BOV Challenge League leaders Marsa 1-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Thursday.

In the quarter-finals, the St. Paul’s Bay side, who had defeated Fgura United 5-0 in the previous round, join Birkirkara, Gzira United, Hamrun Spartans, Hibernians, Mosta and Valletta and Challenge League side St. Andrews.

Following a goalless first half, Hamed Kone scored the all-important goal for Giovanni Tedesco’s side thirteen minutes in the second half.

Six minutes from time, Marsa had Matthew Gauci sent off.
