Friendly match for Under-21 side against Qatar

The Malta Under-21 national team is expected to play a friendly match against the Qatar Under-23 Olympic team on May 29 in Croatia. This should be the first official outing for the Malta Under-21 side under the leadership of coach Gilbert Agius.

The Qatar FA announced that the team will be going for a training camp to Croatia during which they would be playing three friendly matches, the others being against Croatia on June 4 and then play Bosnia on June 7. This training camp will serve as preparation for the AFC Under-23 qualifiers to be held at the end of October 2021.

The Malta Under-21 side plays the first game from the UEFA Under-21 qualifiers against Northern Ireland on September 3 at home before travelling to Russia for a match on September 7. Malta then plays two matches away from home against Lithuania and Slovakia on October 8 and 12 respectively. Malta hosts Spain on November 12 before another away match against Northern Ireland in the final match for 2021.
