Women’s team Raiders FC joined forces with Lija Athletic and as from this coming season, will be known as Raiders Lija Football Club.
In a statement, Raiders FC and Lija Athletic FC announced the union of two elite football organisations to form Raiders Lija Football Club. The merger was carefully crafted with the purpose of developing every player to their highest potential. Raiders Lija FC is committed to a long-term project that aims to develop players in both recreational and competitive programmes while cultivating a lifelong passion for the game.
Both clubs decided to merge because combining resources would give the players the best environment and training facilities right in the heart of the island. Lija Athletic FC also boasts of a professional administrative and technical setup built on core values such as good governance, fair play and loyalty. Lija have recently also invested in some of the latest recovery equipment manned by professional personnel. All this will give several players the opportunity to compete at the highest level. Raiders Lija FC is an initial three-year plan aiming towards creating the first Semi-Professional Women’s team in Malta.
Raiders Lija’s coaching team will continue to be powered by Talent 11 headed by Coach Denis Guerra and will be competing in all age groups of the female league and festivals (seniors, U20, U16 and U13s Grassroots Festivals).
Raiders Lija Football Club will be overseen by a committee as in previous years. The new organisational structure of the technical and administrative personnel is as follows:
Denis Guerra: Raiders FC Technical Director
Philip Ciantar: Raiders FC President
Vanessa Bonnici: Raiders FC Club Secretary
Amanda La Rosa: Raiders FC Club Treasurer
Chis Vella: Raiders FC Deputy Club Secretary & Team Manager
Ronnie Caruana: Raiders FC Club Official
Colin Ciantar: Lija Athletic F.C. Vice President & Team Manager
Benjamin Muscat: Lija Athletic F.C. Chairperson & Nursery Coordinator
