Clubs taking part in European club competitions will be sporting the VisitMalta logo on their shirts after being presented with a grant of €10,000 by the Malta Tourism Authority.
Minister for Tourism Clayton Bartolo said that the MTA was supporting these clubs as they recognise the hard work involved in participating in such competitions. At the same time, just like the MTA supports organisation bringing football teams to Malta for training camps, local clubs travelling abroad are advert for Malta in these markets.
Hibernians will be playing in Estonia against Flora Tallinn in the UEFA Champions League; Birkirkara against La Fiorita of San Marino, Gzira United against Sant Julia of Andorra and Mosta against Spartak Trnava of Slovakia in the UEFA Europa Conference League. On the other hand, the Birkirkara women’s team against Glasgow City of Scotland.
