Birkirkara women off to Scotland to take part in UEFA Women’s Champions League mini-tournament

The Birkirkara women`s team left Malta on Monday, destination Scotland, ahead of the UEFA Women’s Champions League Group 2 mini-tournament, which will be played between the 18 and 21 August.

The Stripes will be facing the champions of Scotland, Glasgow City FC on August 18 and then the winner/loser of the match between BIIK Kazygurt of Kazakhstan and ŠK Slovan Bratislava in the final or match for third place on August 21.

The Maltese champions continued to build on their squad from last season by signing Maltese international defender Charlene Zammit and Ruth Steer Chetham. The club also signed Portuguese forward Flavia Fartaria.

The twenty-players at the disposal of coach Melania Bajada are:

Goalkeepers: Janice Xuereb, Nina Dimech.

Defenders: Ann-Marie Said, Charlene Zammit, Mariah Sciberras, Martina Fenech, Michela Felice, Stephania Farrugia, Valentina Rapa, Yasmeen Vella.
