Sliema, Floriana seek first win in Old Firm derby

Old Firm rivals Sliema Wanderers and Floriana will be aiming at obtaining their first win on Friday as the two teams cross swords at the National Stadium, kick-off at 19:00, in one of the two matches in programme – the other being Sirens vs Mosta at the Tony Bezzina Stadium.

In their first outing, Sliema Wanderers were unlucky to concede a stoppage-time goal to lose 0-1 to Balzan after sharing the exchanges with their opponents throughout the ninety minutes. Floriana, on the other hand, earned a point in a 2-2 draw with Santa Lucia, after going a goal down twice during the game.

Earlier this week, the Blues confirmed Danny Holla who will therefore stay with the club while the Greens secured the services of another three young players, Mark Fenech, Neil Micallef and Mattia Veselji.

Sirens earned maximum points from their first game as they defeated Gudja United 1-0 last week. Mosta, on the other hand, lost 0-3 to Birkirkara, conceding two goals in added time.

Earlier this week, Mosta and Birkirkara agreed another loan deal for Johann Bezzina who is therefore set to make his return on Friday.
