Valletta edge past Balzan

Valletta registered their second win in as many matches as a goal late in the first half handed them a narrow win over Balzan at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Saturday.

The Citizens were a better side but Balzan did create scoring opportunities thanks to which they could have obtained a positive result from the game.

Following the win over Hamrun, Lucas Ribeiro Campos replaced Shaun Dimech for Valletta while Balzan, Aleksa Andrejic was preferred to Marcus Grima.

Valletta scored the all-important goal two minutes from the end of the first half when Ivan Curjuric served Lucas Ribeiro Campos whose shot was deflected by Augustine Loof in an attempt to anticipate the Valletta striker to end at the back of the net.
