Pieta’ Hotspurs win Convenience Cup 2021

Pieta’ Hotspurs won the 2021 Convenience Cup – the summer tournament organised by San Gwann FC at the Sirens Stadium.

Taking part in the tournament were five clubs from the BOV Challenge League, namely Pieta’, San Gwann, St. George’s, Zebbug Rangers and Zejtun Corinthians.

The Hotspurs defeated St. George’s 1-0, lost 2-4 to Zebbug, defeated San Gwann 4-3 and Zejtun 2-0 to finish top on nine points.

San Gwann defeated Zejtun and St. George’s with an identical 2-1 score but then lost to Pieta’ and only managed to beat Zebbug on penalties following a 1-1 draw to end their commitments one point behind the Hotspurs.

In other matches, Zejtun defeated Zebbug on penalties following a goalless draw and then beat St. George’s 2-0. St. George’s registered their only win as they beat Zebbug Rangers 1-0.

The BOV Challenge League kicks-off on September 11. Teams are divided into two groups of eleven teams, each playing a league on a double round-robin basis.

Lija,, Marsaxlokk, Melita, Mqabba, Naxxar, Pembroke, Rabat, San Gwann, St. George’s, Vittoriosa and Zejtun will be playing in Group A while Fgura, Luqa, Marsa, Mgarr, Pieta’, Qrendi, Senglea, St. Andrews, Swieqi, Tarxien and Zebbug will be playing in Group B.
