Ten-man Santa Lucia rescue a point in a 2-2 draw with Mosta

Despite playing for the final twenty minutes in ten men, Santa Lucia rescued a point in a 2-2 draw with Mosta at the National Stadium on Sunday.

A draw which leaves the two teams joint-second from bottom on five points, moving two points ahead of bottom-placed Sliema Wanderers.

Santa Lucia took the lead on the 22nd minute when off a Clayton Failla corner, Rafael Morisco headed home past goalkeeper Julani Archibald.

Seven minutes in the second half, Santa Lucia equalised courtesy of Vito Plut who beat Jovicic following a through pass by Nicholas Pulis.

Jurgen Pisani was sent off for Santa Lucia on the 72nd minute for a late tackle on Tyrone Farrugia.

Mosta went 2-1 ahead two minutes later when Zachary Brincat served Roderick Briffa whose fine shot beat the Santa Lucia goalkeeper.

However one minute in added time, Dexter Xuereb – a product of Mosta – hit home following a corner by Jan Tanti.
