BOV Challenge League: Marsa hit five past Senglea

Marsa registered a third consecutive win in Group B of the BOV Challenge League to move top as they beat Senglea Athletic 5-0 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Saturday.

Amadou Samb put Marsa ahead on the 9th minute and Luca Brincat doubled the score on the 33rd. Dylan Micallef increased the lead on the 38th and Brincat scored another two goals in the second half on the 47th and 72nd.

At the Centenary Stadium, goals by Randall Vella on the 42nd and Miguel Perez Jimenez on the 47th handed Zebbug Rangers a 2-0 win over St. Andrews.

Marsa lead the way with 11 points, followed by Zebbug on 10, Tarxien and Swieqi 9, Fgura 7, Luqa, Qrendi and Pieta’ 6, St. Andrews, Mgarr and Senglea 3.

Meanwhile in Section A, the clash between Pembroke Athleta and Zejtun Corinthians at the Victor Tedesco Stadium ended in a 2-2 draw.

Kyle Frendo put Pembroke ahead on the 6th minute and Jean Carlos Cloth Goncalves equalised on the 20th. Erikys Ferreira restored the lead for Jacques Scerri’s side on the 58th but four minutes later, Samba Tounkara made it 2-2.

In a match at the Centenary Stadium, St. George’s earned their first point thanks to a 1-1 draw with Rabat Ajax. An own goal on the 11th minute put the Saints ahead but five minutes later, a Manuel Angel Bustos penalty restored equilibrium.

Naxxar lead the way with 15 points, followed by Zejtun on 11, Pembroke and Melita 10, Vittoriosa 6, San Gwann and Rabat 5, Marsaxlokk, Lija and Mqabba 4 and St. George’s 1.
