Narrow win for Balzan over ten-man Gudja

Under the guidance of new coach Paul Zammit, Balzan registered a second consecutive win as they defeated ten-man Gudja United 1-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.

Gudja, on the other hand, suffered a third consecutive defeat but despite playing in ten men for eighty minutes, they gave their opponents a hard time.

Paul Zammit made one change to the team which defeated Gzira as Augustine Loof replaced the injured Samir Arab while Thane Micallef named an unchanged line-up following the defeat to Hamrun.

On the 10th minute, Gudja had Hubert Vella sent off after he handled the ball as Alex da Paixao Alves was heading towards the area.

Eight minutes later, Balzan scored the all-important goal courtesy of Milos Mijic who slotted the ball past goalkeeper Glenn Zammit following an assist by Alex da Paixao from the left when served by Bojan Kaljevic.
