Sirens and Gudja United earned a point each in a goalless draw in a drab encounter at the National Stadium on Monday. A match which was characterised by three red cards – one for Sirens and two for Gudja.
This draw leaves the St. Paul’s Bay side in the eighth place although they move to just one point behind Gzira and Balzan while Gudja join Mosta in the ninth place, leaving Santa Lucia second from bottom.
The two sides ended in ten men on the 18th minute following a rough tackle by Tensior Gusman on goalkeeper Jonathan Debono with Gusman and Fernando Brandan being sent off.
Thirteen minutes in the second half, Farid Romero Zuniga was also sent off for Gudja for another rough tackle on Carlo Zammit Lonardelli.
Shots at goal were few and far in between throughout the ninety minutes.
An Aiden Friggieri effort was neutralised by Sirens goalkeeper Jonathan Debono just past the half hour.
On the 63rd, Sean Mintoff, who replaced Debono for the second half, turned into a corner a Gabriel Mensah attempt and in the dying minutes, Alex Cini had a good effort neutralised by Glenn Zammit.
